The 12th Annual Cormack Innovation Awards culminated in a brilliant night at Sydney’s Dockside venue on 31 October.
The crowd was entertained with comedian Akmal Saleh before the serious business of the award winners were announced.
This year’s design brief, “Products for People with Accessibility Constraints”, gave the students some serious issues to consider with their design submission.
The first prize was awarded to Dominic See from University of New South Wales with his simple yet clever design Fish Eyed Joe’s Tuna Can.
Second prize awarded to Michael Rudd from University of Western Sydney with his Pry Top Yoghurt Container. Third prize was awarded to Shelley Javier from University of Technology Sydney with her Ketchup Cap sauce Packaging. Shelley was also awarded Equal first Place with Mariana Abdo, from University of Technology Sydney, for their designs judged separately by the Australian Packaging Covenant for their Sustainability Award.
Cormack also awarded three Highly Commended awards to Jonathan Conway from University of Technology Sydney, Jonathan Li from University of Technology Sydney and Shane Prasad from University of Western Sydney.
The Australian Institute of Packaging again partnered the program and awarded equal winners with their Scholarship. James Bossi and Justin Chong both from the University of Technology Sydney were these recipients.
The night was attended by many customers from major brands together with the Honourable Scot MacDonald MLC, attending on behalf of the Premier Barry O’Farrell’s.
